Setting the mood for a perfect springtime meal can be as simple as filling your table with spring-ready floral arrangements. A few simple bouquets, easily accomplished, with the right combination of flowers and a small investment of time, can make the difference between a decidedly mundane shared meal and a buzz-worthy gathering. Pretty pastels, perfectly placed, will set the stage for an afternoon lunch to remember, or a dinner that conjures all the best that this time of year has to offer. Sure, the guests and the food matter, but it’s that first impression of the table that will set the mood. The flowers are in bloom! Go ahead and invite them to the table! We’ve taken inspiration from some of our favorite florists, from New York to Los Angeles, then distilled each so that you can recreate the magic at home. Read on for a few different takes on the spring bouquet.

Keep It Sparse

You don’t have to stuff a vase to bursting or build a tower of blossoms several feet high to create a strong impression. In fact, it’s often best to keep your floral arrangements tidy and low. Nothing kills a conversation faster than a bouquet that’s so dense and skyscraper-high that you can’t see the person seated across from you. Beyond Flowers

Boost the cred of your floral arrangement by adding a few unexpected details, like ripe fruits and rich greenery. A well-placed kumquat or a few small lemons can add life and vibrancy to an otherwise basic bunch.
