I’m one of the original Kings of Comedy and have told jokes in front of crowds bigger than that. I always had the dream but my family and friends did not. If I would’ve listened to them I wouldn’t be where I am now. Sometimes you just have to listen to yourself and follow your dreams.

Two moments transcended my career. The book ‘Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man’ and signing on to Family Feud. It took me from comedian and radio show host and launched me into mainstream America. All of a sudden I was in everybody’s house. Then, the ‘Steve Harvey’ talk show, ‘Little Big Shots,’ ‘Show Time at The Apollo,’ ‘Miss Universe,’ ‘Fox New Year’s Eve,’ NFL… You have to have faith.

Your life is like a stock chart, stocks take dips so when your life takes a dip, it ain’t time to trip. It ain’t time to sell the stock. You have to remember, you are a blue-chip stock. You have no idea where God will take you on the next uptick. You just have to hang in there!
