His Handshake Shook Up A School

Barry White Jr. is a hero!

You might not remember his name… but you probably remember his handshakes. Barry’s a 5th-grade teacher from North Carolina that went viral in a video of him greeting his students with individual handshakes as they made their way into class.

Steve brought him on for his Harvey’s Heroes spotlight and asked the first question on everyone’s mind: why make individual handshakes for each kid?

“Well, I really believe that every person should feel as though they matter,” White answers. He paid special attention to his students and showed them respect and the students gave him the same in return. The idea for personalized handshakes came from a fourth-grade student and LeBron James, who has various handshakes with his own teammates.
