Everything You Need to Throw a Beautiful Hanukkah Party

By Daisy Barringer

The eight days of Hanukkah start on Sunday, December 2nd this year, which means there’s still time to get everything you need to celebrate the festival of lights in style. From beautiful serving platters to stylish menorahs, this list includes all of your entertaining essentials.

Serving Trays
Serve latkes on an elegant platter decorated with dreidels or Hebrew letters that mean “A great miracle happened there.”

Tablecloths & Table Runners
Deep blue table runners with gold and silver sequin menorahs add festive sparkle to the dinner table. Or a blue tablecloth is both traditional and subtle and will easily coordinate with almost any of your dishes.

Chargers & Placemats
Add subtle shine to the table with round placements, handcrafted with iron wire for a woven look.

Plates
Plates rimmed with strokes of blue and lines of silver, are an easy way to give the table a subtle Hanukkah feel and give you the freedom to add more dramatic accents elsewhere.

Glasses
Hand-painted wine goblets with a menorah add an instant pop of color to any table.

Napkin Rings
Bring peace to the table with simple, wooden napkin rings, which feature the Hebrew word for “peace.” Or opt for nickel-plated, brass napkin rings and add a sleek and shining touch to the table.

For the Cook
Bake cookies shaped like the Star of David, a dreidel, and a menorah. These are perfect to give to friends and family if you’re entertaining or to bring as a thoughtful, homemade hostess gift. Everyone will love if you use these dreidel-shaped tongs (with heat-resistant nylon heads) to serve their latkes.

Menorahs
A handcrafted menorah will quickly become a family heirloom. We also selected some affordable options, for someone looking for a traditional menorah with just a touch of contemporary design.

Candles
A simple way to add warm décor to your dining table, living room, or mantle? Blue candles with silver-embossed Hanukkah design will look great when grouped in odd numbers of different heights.

Dreidels, Crackers, and Garland
Kids and adults will enjoy star-patterned crackers, which open with a “snap” to reveal a joke, a crown, and a small surprise. Place one at everyone’s setting to get the fun started. Give your mantle or dining table an unexpected touch of modern whimsy with five-foot garland made with glittered wire and beads. Buy dreidels in bulk to make sure everyone has one to spin. And remember if you’re going to play the dreidel game, then you’ll need gelt to “gamble” with.
