Get To Know The “Forever Young” Oldest Bodybuilder
This woman isn't letting her age stop her from looking great!
When you think of bodybuilding this might be the first image to come to mind:
But there’s one woman who’s been changing that perception, and she’s 81 years old.
That’s right, Mrs. Ernestine Shepherd is a true inspiration.
At 81 years old, she’s earned the title of World’s Oldest Competitive Female Bodybuilder in the Guinness World Records.
Here she is at 74 years old competing to win at Musclemania:
“Oh my goodness,” the announcer exclaims when he learns her age.
‘Oh my goodness’ is right, because Ernestine doesn’t body build for herself only: she teaches women of all ages how to build muscle and get into shape too.
Though her motivation has pushed others to workout and live a healthier lifestyle, what pushed Ernestine herself to exercise during the years that most people opt to sit down instead?
Her story follows the reason that most women want to get into shape. At the age of 56, she and her sister decided they wanted to look better in their bathing suits.
But then tragedy struck when Ernestine’s sister passed away due to a brain aneurysm.
After her sister’s passing, Ernestine made a choice to keep a promise she’d made to her sister: she would continue body training as a way to get into the Guinness World Records.
Ernestine has definitely earned her many titles, and her late-life triumphs encourage us to meet our own goals.
