The Apollo Story | Motivated +

In 1991 I was sleeping in my car, I had $35 to my name, everything I had could fit into two bags. I started talking to God about my dreams… Fast forward, out of nowhere I get a call from The Apollo asking me to come on the show. That same night I met D.L. Hughley, and Jamie Foxx for the first time. We were all comedians that went on that night. This is my Apollo story and how I became the host. This was my turnback moment.

Everybody has a turn back moment, it’s the moment you can either go forward or give everything up. There’s one guarantee if you give up it will never happen. Faith is everything, God is always on time, he’s never too late.

  1. Wow, I simply adore Steve and he’s like the Uncle I’ve always needed. My Mom passed in 2018, and she loved Family Fued. Her background picture at her funeral, was the Family Fued background. Since she passed my life has been a complete storm. Steve actually gets me through hurdles from his short videos on YT!!!! I talk to God often about someday meeting him just to thank him, and I pray someday that can happen. If I ever needed advice from a man, it’s ONLY STEVE HARVEY!!!!!!!

  2. I can never get tired of moments good or troubling where just a talk with God helps you out of a situation. The original gap, God Answers Prayer.

  4. I have wrote down my dreams all 300 of them, which is hard to do. But man if they didn’t come off the list quickly. God timing is not our timing but the receipt of his timing is great. Blessings on blessings praying for you Steve Harvey and continue to do the work of the Lord.

  10. I am having a hard time believing this. Dated my significant other for over 10 yrs. On a phone call he told me he had to care for his family and could not date me. I was devastated. Fast forward 6 mos.ago he starts calling me again and we pick up where we left off. Going to get engaged, sell his house and my house and move to Florida married. In August talking on the phone I hear the.phone drop, drive to his house, he was weak but did not want to go to hospital. Told me it was sciatica. I was scared so stayed in morning called my sister and next door neighbor to help me get him to doctor/hospital. They came and I was helping him dress as he was weak. He was telling me what clothes etc. The neighbor was behind him and he was holding my neck as I was in front. He went unconscious. Called 911. He was rushed to hospital and they told us going to fly him to Jefferson in Philly for operation. I drove to hospital and he bled out. He was gone An aortic aneurysm. He did not have a will. His estranged daughter who he had not seen in 15 yrs. git his house, etc. I have been lost since Aug.25, 2022. I keep talking to God asking why he took him from me a 2nd time. I am 73 and the only love of my life. Steve, talked to priest and others but no answers and I keep asking God for help but no lifeline.

  11. Ver y good Story, I heard the Apollo story. It is great.

  12. I believe my sons apollo moment is coming soon…He has faught long and hard …hes a survivor of a gang attack who has pulled himself up from his boots traps wit PTSD. What’s amazing is he has an incredible capacity to forgive, I believe that is where the strength lies …in the forgiveness as you can move on and live and God opens doors when we forgive…Its encouraging !!We wait on his timing!

  13. Reading Steve’s story gave me this thought: Everyone should reach this at some point in their lives. This is a place where faith in God’s hands allow Him to lead you through this path of uncertainty and darkness that you can not see but know that it’s there for you “If” you believe and trust. (KJV) Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

  14. Mine-mine-mine Steve,
Listening to you always makes me cry, because your story is an inspiration and a reflection of my life.
I have worked in the medical field for 18 years as a Certified Phlebotomy (yes I’m the good certified vampire [cv]).^)
Steve, I traveled around the world and had to make several sacrifices to stay in my vehicle or pay a high cost and be in serious debt to be comfortable.
With that being said, I have been homeless and know what it’s like to wash your butt with a jug of wash and soapy wash cloth, and eat cold cuts r nothing at all. Once I got to work and started saving and was able to do a lot for myself and two daughter’s who have turned their backs on me this year; including my mom.
Now, I am facing debt because I thought I’ll continue to travel and save to regain what I lost from going get the camper trailer I thought I would be able to save money from renting a weekly room. How wrong was I!
Well, that turned out to be a whole entire story within itself, because I lost even more money from buying some common sense; if you were to ask me! How come? Mainly, because I avoid getting surgery done and wanted to be the “go getter” instead of being still. I thought, I could get this roll around house on the back of my Blazer that’s paid for. And all that did was cost me more gas and unwanted miles on my 2021 vehicle, and $39 dollars left in my account so to speak. I took a very less pay job working two Saturdays out the month to work as a security guard for LSU games.
Must I say, I never allow pride to get in my way to hustle for what I can do to make some kind of money vs looking and hoping for a breakthrough. Which I wish that would happen, but those who you have given your all too don’t know you when your down. But, they want you to be the ear and help they need everytime they need you or need something from you.
Now, I have another procedure coming up this Tuesday and don’t have no one but God on my side. I have been in a dark place and feel like I have showed several my happy side while at work making the best out of being a security guard that doesn’t pay hardly anything. But, I’m very grateful for the little I make to have gas and food and hope to get the courage to entertain people without letting my guards down for sharing my experience.
Life can throw us all kinds of sour lemons, but it’s what we do with the ones that’s useful to be made homemade lemonade. I don’t want to speak out of a delusional prospective, but I am speaking from life prospective. And hope to be able to share my experience with several to understand, it’s a journey that we all must face and go through to learn how to live and love no matter what happens in our life.
With that being said, this too shall pass and I believe that God kept me to witness to several here in Baton Rouge, LA and around the world. For I can only take one day at a time until I reach my destiny.
Thank you dearly for your time and for constantly sharing your story and where God brought you from. Be continuously grateful and being a blessing to those you are called to help 🙏
